Acne and acne scarring

Acne treatment

Acne, a disorder of sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin frequently affects teenagers and young adults of both sexes. However, adult acne is on the rise with more and more people experiencing blemishes, blocked pores and cystic acne later in life.

At Southernhay Clinic we offer a range of treatments including skin peels, mesotherapy, skin needling and cosmaceutical products to treat active acne. Often a combination of these acne treatments provides the best solution, some of which cannot be provided by GPs.

For anyone suffering with problem skin a consultation is essential to determine the best treatment options for you, and at home skin care is vital to enhance and maintain results.

Southernhay Clinic currently offers the following treatments which help to treat acne.

  • Skin needling
  • Mesotherapy
  • Chemical Peels
  • Cosmaceutical Products
  • Carboxy and oxygen therapies

Acne scarring

Not every acne sufferer will develop permanent acne scars, and the likelihood of acne scarring depends on a number of factors, including the severity of the initial condition and individual genetic factors determining susceptibility to scarring. The more severe the acne, the more likely there is to be acne scarring.

For those unfortunate enough to develop longterm acne scarring and in whom the active acne has burned out or is properly controlled, we now have a number of treatments which are effective in improving the appearance of the skin. Careful assessment by our skilled cosmetic doctor, Dr Berlinde, our skin specialist, will enable a bespoke treatment plan to be devised. Often a combination of acne treatments is the best solution.
